Partners in Health and Wholeness Announces Photography Contest

Shannon Axtell Martin, PHW Regional Coordinator · August 23, 2017 · Leave a Comment

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and we want to hear what you have to say. The theme of this year’s PHW Faith and Health Summit is, “Making Connections: We’re Worth it!” in order to honor the image of God in each of us, to celebrate the good work that is being done around health and wholeness, and to remind us that we are not alone in these efforts. Art has the power of connecting people to one another and to themselves. Art, and in this case, photography, can tell a powerful story in even a single image.  So, will you let us see your story? Please see the details below.

Partners in Health and Wholeness is hosting a photography contest. Please submit a photograph that addresses the theme “We’re worth it”, and one of the following questions:

  • What motivates or inspires you/your community to pursue health?
  • What does wholeness mean to you?
  • How is health lived out in your community?
  • What healthy habits are being adopted in your congregation?
  • What is your biggest health concern?
  • How does your faith inform your health journey?
  • What connects you to health and wholeness?

Creativity is encouraged! Please include a brief (about 50 words) description of your photograph. If your photo includes people, please include signed copies of this photo release form.

The winning photographer will receive a prize (valued at $100) and two complimentary tickets to the PHW Faith and Health Summit on October 20th in Greensboro where they will be recognized over lunch. The winning photograph will be featured at the Faith and Health summit, on PHW’s website, and on the PHW Faith and Health Summit Brochure. Select runner-up photographs will also be displayed at the PHW Faith and Health Summit, and awards will be given to the second and third place photographers as well (valued at $50 and $25 respectively).

Please submit your photograph and description to shannon@ncchurches.org by noon on September 25th. If you prefer to submit a hard copy, please mail to Partners in Health and Wholeness, attn.: Shannon Axtell Martin, 1205 Fleming Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

About Shannon Axtell Martin, PHW Regional Coordinator

I get so excited about the many aspects of the faith and health, particularly the food and faith, movement. I am honored to be a part of it through the work of PHW. I love travelling, cooking, eating, writing and preaching. I am an aspiring gardener, artist, and half-marathoner. My deepest joys in life involve my 8th and 9th grade girls small group, wonderful family, dear friends, husband Robert and puppy Benny, and the amazing blessing of figuring out this journey of life together.
