On February 20, several NC Council of Churches staff members had the pleasure of taking part in chapel services at Wake Forest University Divinity School. The opportunity to worship and then have lunch with the students was a joy.
As she related the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000, Shannon said:
Following Jesus’ example, we begin with looking up to heaven and sharing what we have. Having our own bread is a blessing. Sharing that bread and having enough for all is a miracle. Embodying the bread of heaven is a sacrament. We must live in this sense of communion, because there are no easy answers.
May her words inspire all of us as we make food choices that impact the multitudes.
