Postpartum Education and Support works to increase awareness, provide support and enhance education surrounding perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. We are a local nonprofit serving the Triangle area. Our vision is for no mother to suffer in silence, and for no family to go through the recovery process alone.
Our organization started with our first support group in 1998. The group was started by a mother experiencing her second bout with postpartum depression and anxiety, and she wanted to see more resources for moms. Postpartum Education and Support was officially formed as a nonprofit in 2007, and we have continued to expand on our programming to serve mothers and our community surrounding mood disorders. Our resources are for mothers (pregnant and postpartum) who are experiences symptoms of a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. We also offer support, resources and information for families/partners, practitioners and the community.
Postpartum Education and Support offers free weekly support groups for moms in both Raleigh and Durham, a quarterly support group for dads/partners, a telephone support line (warmline), resource and referral connection and free postpartum planning classes at area Babies R Us locations.
Our support groups meet at Mid-Carolina Ob/Gyn in Raleigh and Durham Women’s Clinic in Durham. For more information regarding the group, we ask that mother’s or their families contact us through our warmline at 919.454.6946, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We provide moms experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety during pregnancy and in postpartum with peer support, resource connection and referrals. We offer educational opportunities to families, practitioners and medical personnel, and we work to shine a light on maternal mental health awareness in our state.
Support Group began in 1998 and are available weekly in Raleigh, bi-monthly in Durham.
Warmline began in 1998, and it is available 24/7 (919.454.6946).
Community Education Classes began in 2013, and rotate monthly between Durham and Raleigh Babies R Us locations.
We ask that moms or their support person call or email regard the group. The reason for this is to maximize resource connection ASAP. If a mom or family needs help sooner than our next meeting, then we are able to assist in resource connection.
