Resource Category: For Seniors, Prevention

Who: The Healthy Aging NC Initiative of the NC Center for Health and Wellness at UNC Asheville. Our website is designed for agencies, health care providers, and people interested in learning more about effective, community-based programs that address chronic disease, falls prevention, and safe walking and physical activity.

What: As North Carolina’s statewide resource center for evidence-based health programs, Healthy Aging NC:

  • Connects people to the programs and agencies that improve community health
  • Increases the capacity of providers to offer these programs
  • Maintains the website with current program information and online registration systems
  • Collects and analyzes data to report results

Where: The website provides information on programs offered across the state of North Carolina. These community-based programs are often offered at no- or low-cost.

Why: The easy-to-access website is a one-stop visit for agencies, health care providers, and people interested in learning more about effective, community-based programs that address chronic disease, falls prevention, and safe walking and physical activity. There are program descriptions, ongoing program information, and an online registration option.

Cost: The website provides information on programs offered across the state of North Carolina. These community-based programs are often offered at no- or low-cost.

Thousands of #Workers in NC are struggling to make ends meet on poverty-level wages. The majority of these workers are women and disproportionately women of color. It’s our turn to raise the wage to $15! pic.twitter.com/fwUM…

North Carolina needs an economy that works for all & ensures broadly shared prosperity, but with a #MinimumWage that has not increased in 12 years, that is simply not the case for many hourly workers. Tell lawmakers to #RaiseTheWage: buff.ly/2Qp8cOD #OurTurnNC #NCFor15

The verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial is only a small step toward holding police accountable for using excessive force against our black & brown siblings. There is still so much work to do to dismantle racism that is apparent in the white supremacist culture we live in. #BLM

RT @WEDO_worldwide The US #NDC takes a small step fwd in raising ambition, but it must go much farther. “The climate action we need to preserve the possibility for a just & healthy planet must craft a more transformative vision for change” -@bridiekatie #FairShares stmt: bit.ly/3gsdVhf
