Who: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County

What: Are you interested in starting a community garden but don’t know where to start? Do you  have questions about what you need, who you need, and how to bring it all together? In this guide, created specifically for faith communities, you will find the answers to these questions and more.

Where: This resource is specifically designed for congregations in North Carolina interested in developing a community garden but need guidelines and assistance.

Where: This resource is accessible to all faith communities in North Carolina! North Carolina Cooperative Extension is offered in all 100 counties of the state. Click here to learn more. To access the Forsyth Community Gardening website (part of NC Cooperative Extension), click here.

Why: Community gardens have taken root in neighborhoods, civic groups, faith communities, public parks, schools, and more. These are places where people come together to grow food, create and preserve green spaces, and bring neighbors together, and they are as diverse as the people gardening in them.

When: Many thanks to Megan Gregory from N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center for putting this guide together for our 2017 Faith and Health Summit!

Thousands of #Workers in NC are struggling to make ends meet on poverty-level wages. The majority of these workers are women and disproportionately women of color. It’s our turn to raise the wage to $15! pic.twitter.com/fwUM…

North Carolina needs an economy that works for all & ensures broadly shared prosperity, but with a #MinimumWage that has not increased in 12 years, that is simply not the case for many hourly workers. Tell lawmakers to #RaiseTheWage: buff.ly/2Qp8cOD #OurTurnNC #NCFor15

The verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial is only a small step toward holding police accountable for using excessive force against our black & brown siblings. There is still so much work to do to dismantle racism that is apparent in the white supremacist culture we live in. #BLM

RT @mocleanair Net zero is not zero. Emissions are emissions whether you “count” them or not. 50% is not bold or dramatic, it is the bare minimum. It is more than we have done before, but we have 3 decades of ignoring what needs to be done. For our kids’ sake, don’t give up on 1.5C. twitter.com/GretaThu…
