Healthy Aging

From the PHW Values statement: “The second chapter of life should be seen as a positive, sacred journey that leads deeper into our relationship with the Divine, rather than one of decline and fear. Further, the elders in our society should be offered respect, understanding, care, and friendship; their well-being should be secured.”

The Healthy Aging program of Partners in Health in Wholeness seeks to help empower and equip faith leaders and faith communities to live out these values and commitments in service to and support of the older adults in their communities, and their families and caregivers.

Our Healthy Aging offerings include educational events and materials highlighting mental and physical health, active aging, physical and financial safety, social connections, and aging-related topics; the PHW Healthy Aging Resource Guide; and a growing, interactive resource map for free and low-cost state-wide and local resources for older adults and their families (including active aging programming, caregiver supports, fellowship and volunteer opportunities, wellness classes, health and safety training and other vital resources).

Recent PHW educational focus areas have included heart health, active aging, older adults and mental health, recognizing and addressing ageism in our faith communities, and addressing social isolation and loneliness.
