Ten Thousand Villages Shop for a Cause — Cary

December 4, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Three of North Carolina’s Ten Thousand Villages stores are offering shoppers the chance to give twice this holiday season. The stores in Asheville, Greensboro, and Cary are holding Shop for a Cause events to benefit the NC Council of Churches. A portion of the proceeds raised during designated shopping periods at each store will be donated to the Council to continue our work for unity, justice, and peace. Council staff and volunteers will host the events, so join us for the fellowship, as well.

Ten Thousand Villages is a network of fair trade stores, dealing directly with artisans around the world and selling their wares at prices that offer a fair wage. It connects individual entrepreneurs in developing countries with market opportunities in North America. Ten Thousand Villages has been associated with the Mennonite Central Committee for its entire history. Learn more about the stores here.

The Asheville event takes place Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 9, and shoppers must mention the Council when they check out for us to receive the donation. In addition, we will have a Council staff member hosting snacks and interactive activities on Thursday, December 1 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Cary and Greensboro events take place December 4. At the Cary store, you can shop from 2 to 5 p.m. In Greensboro, shopping hours are 6 to 8 p.m.

We are grateful to Ten Thousand Villages for their commitment to a more just and compassionate world.
