Sacred Conversations: Becoming a Trauma-Informed Faith Community (Part II)

July 24, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Please join us for the next part of our Sacred Conversations series, on Friday, July 24 at 11am via Zoom. This will be part two of our two-part series titled “Becoming a Trauma-Informed Faith Community.” This will be a continuation of part one, from June 26 (recording available on our YouTube page here), where we defined what trauma-informed care and ministry is. We will continue to explore ways that a faith community can address trauma, and by doing so, become a more welcoming and comfortable space for people of all experiences. We will learn from Dr. Dawn Baldwin Gibson, who pastors trauma-informed ministries in Eastern NC.

Pastor Dawn is the Executive Pastor of Peletah Ministries and Superintendent of the Peletah Academic Center for Excellence, places of intentional growth where congregants and students are encouraged to process their experiences and find faith in a safe and welcoming space. Both of these ministries are culturally competent and trauma-informed in practice. Pastor Dawn will guide our conversation deeper and share ways to put trauma-informed care into practice in your faith communities and greater communities.

We look forward to learning with you!
