Partners in Health and Wholeness Grant Cycle Opens January 6

January 5, 2017 By Chris Pernell, Program Coordinator, Partners in Health and Wholeness Leave a Comment

PHW-certified congregations across North Carolina are eligible to apply for a mini-grant to assist in furthering their commitment to health and wholeness. Mini-grant application periods are open twice a year; the current cycle is from January 6 through February 6.

To be eligible for this grant cycle, congregations must have been certified in the past year but have not received a PHW grant in 2016. For more information about Partners in Health and Wholeness grant opportunities please visit our FAQ page.

The first certification cycle for 2017 opens in early February. Learn more about the certification program by visiting the PHW site.  You can also contact your regional coordinator for information on mini-grants or certification. They are listed by county here.

Chris Pernell, Program Coordinator, Partners in Health and Wholeness

Chris is a native Kentuckian and the daughter of missionary parents who served Eastern Kentucky for more than 40 years. She relocated to North Carolina in 1981 and has come to call NC home. Prior to coming to the Council, she spent several years in corporate America before joining a faith-based, nonprofit medical clinic serving the uninsured and under-served of Franklin County. Chris is excited to be a part of the Council’s PHW program where she can utilize her background in health care and service. She and her husband have two children, a cat, a dog, and a surprisingly friendly bearded dragon. In her free time, Chris enjoys reading, basketball, and traveling, especially to the mountains.

    Interfaith Connections – Easter 4–Updated 4/13/2015

    Lectionary Week: Year B – Easter 4
    Date: April 22, 2018
    Topic: Interfaith Connections
    Text: John 10:11-18

In 21st century North Carolina we have many and various ways to come into contact with “other sheep.” Will we stick to our own kind, work to create a Christian enclave where we feel safe and secure, free from any risk? Or, will we be the welcoming face, the open hands, the purposeful feet, and the compassionate voice of Christ in the world so that all may know the love of God?
