Still Accomplishing Great Things

Joy Williams, Former PHW Regional Coordinator · June 18, 2013 · Leave a Comment

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation announced the grantees for their Healthy Eating Equipment 2013 Cycle. Usually in any contest, you will hear about the proposals and work that the funded grantees are doing in their communities. However, within the same contest, you might not hear about the other applicants and the great work that they have underway. The BCBSNC Foundation has shared that they were pleased with all the applicants and the powerful presence each congregation illustrated within their communities. To highlight this truth, I want to share with you a story from one congregation who was not funded, but is still a community winner:

Good Morning Sister Joy,

I am one who did not get funded. I am not disappointed of the funder’s choice because if at first you don’t succeed try, try again. Romans 8:28 explains that all things work for my good. Jeremiah 28:11 says, “I know the plans that I have for you”, and He will eventually bring it to an expected end. I am a winner and patiently awaiting on Him for greater opportunities. I am excited to be favored with a team who has the funding, and in the Lord’s timing He will open another door.

Again, I am glad to be a part of a growing team to help educate people about eating and living healthy. I am disappointed to see so many hungry children on our streets, and adults who still need food, and people who need a touch of the Love of Jesus, not just a hand-out but a hand-up out of their situation. I feed the homeless every Tuesday and have been doing so for over five years without any grant funding. All glory is to our Father in Heaven!! Know that we are all one in the Spirit and our church will continue to do our part in helping wherever it is needed, as our Savior permits.

Be blessed and keep me updated regarding other opportunities for funding. The Almighty One is Awesome.

Dr. Joanie T. Greene, President
Christian Outreach Bible Institute

About Joy Williams, Former PHW Regional Coordinator

I am passionate about health and faith. Children, families, and elders have my deepest love and concern, and I've cultivated a heart for dance, plants, cooking, water, chilling with great friends, and talking about the matters of the heart. I love the Lord and seek to bring myself and others closer to The King Most High.

We have supported reproductive choice since 1970. "To see that now, 50 years later, my 26-year-old daughter has fewer rights around reproductive choice than I had when I was 26? We are going backward and that is unconscionable,” said Jennifer Copeland. newsobserver.com/new…

#SCOTUS has overturned Roe v. Wade, making it crystal clear how much #CourtsMatter. Reproductive choice is a healthcare decision and women should make those decisions about their own bodies. We stand by those words today.

We affirmed in 1970 that reproductive choice is a healthcare decision and women should make those decisions “without embarrassment, excessive cost, and unwarranted delay.” We stand by those words today.
