Father Michael Lapsley — Asheville

September 13, 2015 @ 10:10 am - 11:10 am

Free

The Rev. Michael Lapsley, survivor of a targeted bombing by South Africa apartheid agents, will visit North Carolina this September to speak with university students, congregations, and members of the general public. Framed by the perspective that “all persons are capable of being perpetrators or victims – and sometimes both,” Fr. Lapsley will discuss the need for healing of individuals, communities, and nations in response to trauma related to racial, religious, and political conflict.

For the past two decades, he has worked to strengthen processes for communal healing related to trauma, in South Africa and worldwide. A survivor of war and terrorism, he has worked in diverse conflict zones and with combat veterans, including U.S. veterans.

Along with speaking at the adult forum, Father Lapsley will preach at the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. worship services. For more information about his visit to All Souls, contact the Very Rev. Todd Donatelli at todd@allsoulscathedral.org.

Father Lapsley’s North Carolina speaking tour is co-sponsored by the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the North Carolina Council of Churches.
